My last 2 legal remaining HPS peaks in the San Jacinto area (the 7 I have left are closed off in a burn zone), I tagged Cornell and Lily Rock in a quick trip from San Diego. Cornell had been left off of previous loops due to time constraints, but I finally managed to get up this one. I self-belayed with a short rope up the west side of the summit block after backing off the east side (didn’t have proper gear to protect the wide crack). The following day I scrambled up the south side of Lily Rock (I had just barely missed the summit on a multipitch climb the previous year). As always, Idyllwild is such a beautiful place…
