Working my way north, I focused on three things in California:
High Sierra Trail – 72 miles from Sequoia to Whitney summit and out to Lone Pine. I hiked the trail in 4 days – tough enough to kick my butt but not so much that I didn’t enjoy it (The Kern hot spring at the halfway point was much needed). Then I hitchhiked to Lone Pine, bus to Bishop, and rented a car to get back to Visalia.
The Lost Coast – A rugged remote stretch of coastline in Humboldt County. I hiked the 25 miles of mostly beach walking with friend Philip Wegge over 2 days. An amazing place, I gotta return…
Redwoods National Park – A beautiful park, amazing trees
