My 2nd trip to Alaska, I attempted a climb of Denali with 3 friends. We reached the high camp at 17200 feet on our twelfth day on the mountain, where one of my friends got frostbite. Without a good weather forecast for the next few days, we regrettably retreated off the mountain, with an epic descent that included breaking trail in deep snow, a few crevasse falls, and low visibility for much of the way. After spending several days eating and sleeping, another team member and I rented motorcycles to take in some sights, and I visited Prince William Sound, Portage Valley, and two other friends in Anchorage. Another trip to Alaska is already in the books for next year…
