This Saturday my friend Christian and I paid a visit to the Los Coyotes Native American reservation, with intentions of reaching Squaretop, a rarely visited peak in the northwest corner of Anza Borrego. We utilized parts of an old road to approach the mountain, then climbed up 750 feet in 1/3rd of a mile to reach the highpoint, and used a short rope to protect ourselves while making the final class 5 moves onto the summit block. A fun outing we won’t soon forget. Trip report
