Summits: 1380

Summer to Fall of 2022, A Great Time in the Mountains

Summer through fall of 2022 was one of the best seasons I’ve had in the mountains. I made the summits of four difficult ultra-prominence peaks, completing the list of 57 “ultras” in the lower 48. Thanks to my partner Tony Russo who joined on Mt Olympus (WA), Mt Cleveland (MT), the Grand Teton (WY), and Mt Jefferson (OR), and made this possible. I hadn’t expected to finish this year but it seems it was meant to be.

Along with the ultras, I started working on the 4000ft foot prominence peaks in the lower 48. While the ultras haven’t seen too many finishers, somewhere in the 20s or 30s, the “P4ks” have seen even fewer, three known at this time. I reached 35 of these summits in 2022, bringing me up to 110 of 142. Besides ultras and P4ks, I explored areas in between, met up with friends, and chased some non-listed summits.

I was on the road from late June until the end of November, spending time in California, Oregon, Washington, Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, Utah, New Mexico, Arizona, and Nevada. There are quite a few pictures in this album but worth a look, at least for me to jog the memory of a long time out.
